Calendar of Events

Below find a list of events that may have WWI reenactor participation. Unfortunately IR63 may not be at all these events but we still wish to point out any events where you may have to opportunity to learn about the period and what we do.

With your help, we can make our year a busy, WWI-filled year! So, if you know of a WWI event of some kind, big or small, let me know and I'll post it here!

pmm-01 April 26-27, 2025: The Great War Remembered event at the Pennsylvania Military Museum, 51 Boal Avenue, Boalsburg, PA, 16827.

This year marks the 107th anniversary of American combat troops fighting in France and the end of the First World War. This weekend remembers that time with lectures and temporary exhibits detailing life on the Western Front. Regular Admission Rates Apply; 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

They need some more living historians to attend since the museum is closed for renovations. They are accepting all impressions but obviously prefer AEF, considering the shrine for the 28th ID is there.

DSC-6535 December 13, 2025: Rockford WWI Christmas in the Trenches event at the The Indiana Military Museum, 6799 Guilford Road, Rockford IL 61107.

Christmas in the Trenches is a military re-enactment of the 1914 Christmas truce taking place 107 years ago during World War I.

The soldiers in the Western front of the Great War called unofficial ceasefires during the week of Christmas. Enemies came together to decorate, exchange gifts, sing carols, and even play football.

The visitors experience is two-fold. Visitors will engage with re-enactors among the ambiance of a decorated replica trench measuring 150-yards on the museum grounds. Visitors will receive a special holiday trench tour, and hear excerpts from World War I letters from soldiers experiencing Christmas in the trenches.

In addition to the tour, visitors will view a narrated re-enactment of a battle and the cease fire, sing carols with the re-enactor soldiers, sip hot chocolate, view artifacts from World War I, and play football as the soldiers did during the truce! The 150-trench system is the only replica of its kind with built in bunkers.

You may also purchase your admissions on Saturday upon your arrival to the special event.

When arriving, proceed to the Rec Path entrance and parking just west of the Main Museum Center entrance off Guilford Road. Look for the signs. You will purchase your admission near the event site on the campus past the Rec Path parking area. Parking is free.
