Vereinfachte Feldrock (M.1914 Waffenrock Transitional)

The war put pressure on German industry to simplify the M1907/10 Waffenrock. This resulted in the Vereinfachte Feldrock, these were similar to M.1910 tunics, but can be encountered with, or without any combination of the colored piping around the bottom edge of the collar, on the front fly, cuffs, or rear skirt formation.

Collectors/reenactors commonly refer to this pattern of tunic as a "M1914 Transitional" tunic, which is actually incorrect. The Vereinfachte Uniform appeared in 1915 before and during the issue of the M.1915 Bluse making the term "M1914 uniform" quite impossible. For Preußen the Vereinfachte Feldrock was introduced by AKO (Allerhöchste Kabinetts Order = A Royal Cabinet Order) of 3 March 1915.

The cuff on Preußen Feldrock was altered from the various cuff patterns of the M.1910 Waffenrock to a barrel cuff. Shoulder straps are found with a variety of attachment methods, some retained the M1907/10 Waffenrock "tongue" for slipping through the loop on the shoulder while others lack this attachment strap and were intended to be sewn directly to the shoulder seam. These straps were utilized until the introduction of the M1915/16 straps. This tunic also has the same exposed brass imperial crown buttons throughout as found on the M1907/10 Waffenrock, it has red piping around the collar, down the front.
